| MOTHER AND SON. |
Having waited for all the commercial hype to ease before i watched the film,it was very refreshing in the sense of it being true to the time of Jesus in the sense of language, senery, historical depiction of geographical places.
The lasting memory of the film apart from the Passion of Jesus and cruxifiction, death, is the potrayal of the relationship between Jesus and his mother. It was very human, ordinary, with a touch of light humour shown in the flashback shots.
Mary was seen as what she was a mother, human with empathy, emotion, caring and suffering also with Jesus in his pain.
Through the years Mary has been shown in the light of a European woman through statues and art.She was Of the faith OF Judaism and that of Isreal 2000 years ago.
As a parent myself i could connect with her in the sense of how would i feel if it was my child.Would i have the understanding or the ability to withold myself to understand his mission? I think not.
The scene where she helps him up after falling shows also Jesus being fully human.
I leave with a quotation from Luke,in realtion to Mary,"a sword will also pierce your soul" Yes it did through Jesus Passion, cruxifiction and death.
We live in the glory of his ressurection. |
